RISE ABOVE ATTACK CHECKLIST/Sources of Power

1.  What makes the enemy army move?
2.  What gives it impetus and endurance?
3.  Who guides its actions?
4.  What is the underlying source of its strength?
5.  Study the structures of your enemies.  Find the "hinge OR joint" that holds the organization together.  A blow there will divide the enemy and division is weakness.  Anything divided can not stand.
6.  Distract your opponents' attention to the front, then hit them from the side, where they least expect it.  By hitting them where they are soft, tender, and unprotected, you create a shock, a moment of weakness for you to exploit.  Bait people into going out on a limb, exposing their weaknessess, then rake them with fire from the side.
7.  Source of Support.
8.  Be unpredictable to create a vaporous feeling of vulnerability.

The first principle is that the ultimate substance of enemy strength must be traced back to the fewest possible sources, and ideally to one alone.  The attack on these sources must be compressed into the fewest possible actions.
Carl von Clausewitz                   On War
(1780-1831)
*There is no reversal to this principle.
